Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 February 2026
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. We also use local storage and session storage, which work similarly but are managed by your browser's JavaScript engine rather than being sent with every HTTP request.
This policy covers all three types. We refer to them collectively as "cookies" for simplicity.
How to manage your preferences
When you first visit LaunchPt., a cookie consent banner asks you to accept or reject analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Manage Cookies" in the footer of any page.
Essential cookies cannot be disabled because the site cannot function without them (e.g. keeping you logged in).
Essential cookies
These are required for the site to work. They are set automatically and do not require consent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Local storage | Supabase authentication token. Keeps you logged in across page loads. | Session |
| supabase_token | Local storage | JWT access token used to authenticate API requests to the server. | Session |
| user_id | Local storage | Your Supabase user ID, used to load your profile and saved data. | Session |
| user_email | Local storage | Your email address, used to identify your session. | Session |
| lp_cookie_consent | Local storage | Stores your cookie preference ("accepted" or "rejected") so we don't ask again every visit. | Persistent |
Functional local storage
We also use your browser's local storage and session storage to support core features. These are not cookies — they stay on your device and are never sent to our servers. They do not require consent.
Practice test progress
We store your progress and results on practice tests (LNAT, UCAT, Watson-Glaser, numerical reasoning, situational judgement, TMUA) in your browser's local storage so you can continue where you left off. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
UI preferences
We store small flags in local storage to manage navigation indicators (such as "new" badges) and prevent duplicate page-load events. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Session management
We store session identifiers and heartbeat timestamps in local storage to manage your login session and detect idle timeouts. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
These are only set if you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner. If you click "Reject", none of these are loaded.

The analytics cookies above help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. No data is sold or used for advertising.
How to clear cookies
You can clear all cookies and local storage from your browser at any time:
- Change analytics preference: click "Manage Cookies" in the footer of any page.
- Clear all site data: in your browser settings, find the option to clear cookies and site data for
the-launchpoint.co.uk. This will log you out. - Delete your account: go to Settings and click "Delete Account". This removes all your data from our servers as well.
